Overview

EVO Mobile App is an independent iOS concept created for EVO, an outdoor recreation retailer serving customers across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The project explored how EVO’s existing desktop and mobile shopping experiences could be translated into a more focused native application for frequent mobile customers.

As the UX designer, I designed the end-to-end mobile experience, including product discovery, product details, purchasing workflows, account features, and order tracking. The concept balanced the familiarity of EVO’s existing website with interaction patterns better suited to a native iOS application.

Problem

EVO’s mobile website gave customers access to its extensive product catalog, but the experience was still structured primarily as a responsive version of an ecommerce website. Frequent customers browsing, purchasing, and tracking outdoor equipment from their phones could benefit from a more focused mobile experience.

The challenge was to translate a content-heavy ecommerce platform into an approachable iOS application without removing the product specifications, options, descriptions, and customer reviews shoppers rely on when making expensive equipment purchases.

The app also needed to remain familiar to existing EVO customers. Introducing an entirely new structure or visual language could make the transition more difficult, so the design had to improve mobile usability while preserving recognizable elements from the existing shopping experience.

Solution

I created a native mobile shopping experience that preserved the depth of EVO’s product information while reorganizing it into a structure that was easier to navigate on a smaller screen.

Product pages retained important details such as available options, customer reviews, product descriptions, and purchasing information, but presented them through a clearer mobile hierarchy. Familiar patterns from EVO’s existing website were carried into the application so returning customers could understand the experience without relearning how to shop.

The application also extended beyond product browsing and purchasing. Customers could access their account and track active orders directly from the app. Shipment progress was communicated through visual progress indicators, expected delivery dates, and expandable order details, allowing customers to understand an order’s status without searching through confirmation emails or external carrier websites.

The resulting concept demonstrated how EVO’s existing ecommerce experience could be translated into a more focused and convenient mobile product while maintaining the content and familiarity customers depended on.
